Why did I leave?

Interesting article in the Herald on why so many Australians are leaving Australia.

So why did I leave Australia?

1) Money, tax??? Avoid my creditors??
2) Career opportunities & excitement???
3) The lure of wild Bangkok???
4) The mediocrity & narrow mindedness of John Howard's government???
5) Because Australia's not yet a republic???
6) Its always easier to imagine a revolution in someone else's country???
7) I needed a more target rich environment???
8) Because I am unwilling to settle down?????
9) Refer Rilke Poem:

Sometimes a man stands up during supper
and walks outdoors, and keeps on walking,
because of a church that stands somewhere in the East.
And his children say blessings on him as if he were dead.

And another man, who remains inside his own house,
dies there, inside the dishes and in the glasses,
so that his children have to go far our into the world
toward that same church, which he forgot.

What next oh man of steel??

So George W has been and gone. Bob Brown has been accused of bad manners & being a national disgrace by John Howard on John Laws radio show.

What is a disgrace is the Iraqi & US and British deaths arising from the Iraqi war.
It is a disgrace that Australia supported George W's preventive war & lied to the Australian public about the reasons for war & locked out the Australian public from its own parliament to celebrate George W.

What is George W going to do next? Iran, Syria, North Korea???

He's certainly not going to challenge Israel to tear down its wall. Thats for sure.
He's certainly not going to allow the Families of September 11 victims a full independent inquiry into the government's actions on and before September 11.

There is no doubt that whatever George W does in an effort to win the next US election little Johnnie will be tagging along with unquestioning allegiance.

Meanwhile Australia distracts itself with sport & more sport. I like sport ... but ... in the end it's only a game.
