City of God

Yesterday, I watched City of God. I enjoyed it immensely: photography, violence, sad, misshapen romance, chooks, humour & vivid characters.

In the lift, going down after the movie an American lady said to her friends "Well. That was altogether a bit much."

I went home and tried to write some more of a story in progress.

Last night's dream involved rock climbing over an elaborate, finely detailed, teak wood carving of the storming of Iwo Jima. A few pieces broke off but overall I was successful.

Lizard Dreams

Last night's dream involved two women and the eating of live lizards.

We three drank glasses of water filled with squirming, drowning, spluttering, snub nosed, baby-faced, sky blue lizards. The lizards were each the size of large shrews, skin the texture of slimy soaked putty and ... patterned ... well, what can I say, almost like the willow pattern - an intricate, asian weave of meandering leaves tattooed on their body.

Each of the girls dipped their lizard flickering tongue first into their glass. Then they'd pull out their lizard, squeeze him; almost wringing the water and what looked to me like tears back into the glass. Then they'd dip him back in again, flick their long brown hair back and wolf down the lizard sucking on the soft bits, crunching on the bones, their eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

I had a little more trouble with it all. The horror ... The horror ... Lizard skin, thick, leathery and black earthy in my mouth. To afraid to chomp for fear of the cold splurt of lizard innards inside my mouth. Wanting to swallow him whole. Feeling the tickle of his flickering tongue inside my mouth.

Could this have something to do with having watched Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle last night??
